Opened in 1990 by Susan Baird, the second female Lord Provost of Glasgow, Taransay Court is a development of 35 flats for up to 43 people, two of the flats purpose-built for wheelchair users. Just two miles north of the city centre, it was built at a cost in excess of £1.25m.
Taransay Court is on Liddlesdale Square in Milton, Glasgow. The flats are arranged on two levels with a lift and wheelchair access throughout. The scheme is tastefully and comfortably decorated with carpeted corridors, a communal lounge with adjoining kitchen, laundry facilities, a small enclosed garden and car park. There is a very active events committee, who organise hand massage, afternoon tea, computer classes, fellowship, bingo and reiki.
The Manager said “local people refer to Taransay Court as the house of kindness.”
