Brockworth is the home of Brockworth House Care Centre – whose residents get fine views of the cheese event from their windows. It’s a purpose-built two-storey Nursing Home specialising in dementia care, with places for 55 residents. The Home is set in large grounds that include an enclosed patio area for residents to access safely. Regular events and activities are enjoyed by residents, none more so than the weekly visits of Bailey, a King Charles spaniel. He is a “PAT” (Pets As Therapy) dog, who is part of the animal therapy promoted by MHA.
Originally opened in 1995, MHA acquired the Home in November 2002. Prior to that, the Home had had seven owners in less than eight years – so current staff are delighted that MHA has set such a good record for continuity. A refurbishment towards the end of 2007 created three separate units for smaller group living in a homely environment.
One relative recently said that she could not imagine her husband being cared for better anywhere, “or with more love”.
