Foxton Grange lies to the north east of Leicester city centre. Opened in 1994, it offers dementia nursing for 36 people. It is a purpose-built Home all on one level with single rooms, each of which has an en suite bathroom.
Unusually, the Home was constructed in a figure of eight configuration. This not only provides a lot of walking space but also has created two internal courtyards, allowing external areas that are safe for the residents.
MHA took over the ownership and running of Foxton Grange in 2005. Prior to that time, it had been always operated within the charity sector and had developed a close relationship with the local Primary Care Trust. The Home specialises in working with individuals whose dementia has brought about challenging behaviours. All the Home’s referrals are taken from the PCT and the area’s psycho-geriatrician. They maintain close links with Foxton Grange, allowing continuing input on the mental health of each resident and providing greater opportunity to maintain care, where possible, within the community.
