Kingfisher House is MHA’s general Nursing Home on Yardley Green Road in Birmingham, a near neighbour to the Dementia Nursing home, Herondale. Originally opened in 1992, Kingfisher was taken over by MHA in 2005. Six of the beds in the Home are contracted to the recently amalgamated Birmingham East and North Primary Care Trust. Five beds are reserved for residents under the age of 65.
At the present time, Kingfisher is a single-storey Home with 38 single rooms, all en suite. However, the building is currently being considered for further development to add additional beds and improve ancillary services. It may be that, at the same time, the refurbishment will allow a physical connection between the two MHA properties.
One resident commented “If there is ever anything I don’t want or like about the food on offer I am given something of my choice to have instead. I am always looked after. I am happy.”
