Briar Hill House is situated within landscaped grounds that once belonged to a cottage hospital and the Home was opened in the knowledge that local residents were unhappy to see their hospital closed down.
The Nursing Home became part of MHA in 2005 and provides care for people with complex nursing needs including younger people with physical disabilities. Briar Hill works, for example, with residents with spinal or head injuries and residents whose lungs require mechanical ventilation. Typically, the Home will also be involved in patient rehabilitation, enabling residents to return to their own home environment. This area of work is very specialised, requiring higher staffing levels and expertise, and is undertaken in partnership with the local Primary Care Trust.
Whatever the physical needs, Briar Hill works to provide care in a comfortable, purpose-built environment, and to offer a welcoming atmosphere where residents, their friends and family, can socialise and truly feel at home.
