Fulwood Park is a large detached property on what was once known as “millionaires’ row”. The building was owned by Mr Cohen, founder of Lewis’s, once Liverpool’s most patronised poplar store. “It is an excellent property, admirably situated,” reported one local paper after the opening, “commanding a fine view of the Mersey estuary and the Wirral Peninsula.” The assessment is echoed by a present-day resident, who writes not only of the care and the ability of staff to meet spiritual needs but also of the Home’s charming position.
The basement and ground floor accommodation was extended in 1982 when six residential rooms were added over a garden level sun lounge, bringing the total number of places now available to 34.
