The Home, opened in 1969 and designed for 30 residents, was the 25th built by MHA, and was situated in what was then a “new town”.
MHA named the new Home in honour of Sybil Haddock – better known as Methodist Recorder columnist and MHA supporter “Margaret Harwood”.
Since 1987, the dining room has been extended and a conservatory added, and many residents comment upon the “friendly atmosphere”. They benefit, too, from en suite rooms – evidence of MHA’s responsiveness to the changing expectations of those who move from their own homes into a more communal caring environment.
