Capital Appeals are launched where MHA is building new developments to provide care for older people in that area. Local fundraising events are organised by volunteers for the benefit of those who will be moving into the new schemes. Support from individuals, churches, companies and other local organisations is essential to help MHA provide those special extras which will enhance the lives of residents who will be living in the new developments. Please contact us if you think you can help.
The Leicester Forget me Not Appeal aims to raise funds for the benefit of residents who will be moving into the new Aigburth, which is being built in the grounds of the existing home on Manor Road in Oadby. Up to 56 residents will be moving into the new home, which will offer residential, nursing and specialist dementia care during the summer months in 2012. The Appeal has been adopted as the “charity of the year” by a number of local organisations and community groups, and the Co-op Male Voice Choir and the Cantamici Chamber Choir have both performed fundraising concerts in aid of the Appeal. More fundraising events, organised by a dedicated group of enthusiastic volunteers, will be taking place in the next few months and offers of help will be very welcome. Please contact Mo Hayward on 0113 272 8462 or email her on mo.hayward@mha.org.uk if you would like to know more.
The Chippenham Forget me Not Appeal will be launched at the beginning of 2012, when work will begin on a new development at Chippenham Golf Course to provide housing and care for over 130 older people in the area. The development will consist of a residential, nursing and specialist dementia care home, which will be linked via a communal hub to a scheme of apartments for sale, with 24 hour care on site.
To create awareness of the new services which will become available and to raise funds to help with the provision of benefits like a coffee shop, beauty salon, sensory garden and more, it is hoped to engage local churches, organisations, businesses and individuals to help us generate interest and support. If you know of anyone who would be interested in helping with this, please contact Lesley France on 0113 272 8466 or email her on lesley.france@mha.org.uk
