Capital Appeals enable us to raise funds to help build new projects and to provide additional extras to enhance the quality of life for residents moving into new developments.
Work at Bradbury Grange in Whitstable, Kent has now been completed and residents will be moving into the new home from 6 July onwards. The Appeal Fundraising Group - made up of very enthusiastic volunteers who live locally - is still actively seeking support for the Appeal through a variety of fundraising events planned for this year. Please contact Mo if you would like to help or participate
The multi-faith Housing with Care project in South Leeds is scheduled to open at the beginning of 2011 and will provide self contained apartments for social rent with 24 hour care on site for up to 90 older people from different faiths and cultural backgrounds. Following extensive consultation with prospective residents, the local community and multi-faith groups, the Appeal aims amongst other things to contribute to the provision of special adaptations to suit individual cultural needs, bespoke catering facilities and spaces for appropriate religious practice. To create awareness of this unique project the Rt Hon John Battle hosted a VIP luncheon in Leeds recently, attended by the newly elected Lord Mayor of Leeds, Cllr J McKenna and representatives from various multi-faith organisations in the City. A group of local volunteers has been promoting the project at local galas and festivals and several fundraising events are in the pipeline. Please contact Mo if you would like to help or participate.
Following the launch of the London Forget me Not Appeal, assistance is sought from anyone able to give of their time to create awareness about the development of three of MHA's four Care Homes in the London Borough of Brent, which will provide high quality residential accommodation with specialist dementia care for 129 older people in this area. Enquiries are welcomed from anyone interested in joining an Appeal Fundraising Group to co-ordinate local fundraising activities which will provide extras for the benefit of residents in these three properties. Please contact Mo if you would like to help or participate.
We also hope to progress with new developments in Leicester, Bridlington, Harwich, Bristol and Pickering in North Yorkshire and other locations around the UK
